And welcome to our new website, a site that reflects a fresh new look and feel for Bentley Podiatry. That new look though does not deflect from our commitment to deliver excellent service to you, our clients.
As we kick off I thought we’d have some fun with a few Foot Facts that might well surprise you.
- Your feet are one of the most ticklish parts of your body and that’s because 8,000 nerves reside there. So, the feet are a good place to start if you want to give someone a ‘tickling’ workout.
- In any given day if you’re on your feet and out and about you will take anywhere between 4,000 to 6,000 steps…that’s why your feet can feel a little exhausted at day’s end!
- In any pair of feet there are in the order of 250,000 sweat glands, that’s partly why your feet swell up during the day, and the shoes and socks can be a bit on the ‘ponky’ side
- Your feet just love a little walking, it’s the best form of exercise for them. And a side benefit is that regular walking will also add to your general health by improving circulation and weight control.
- By contrast running can overload your feet, as the pressure delivered to each foot upon ground contact can be as much as four times your body weight.
